Blood Sugar Levels

Hi, new to the program and the forum here. Anybody here deal with high blood sugar issues? I'm trying to square my somewhat low carb diet with the carb intensive food plan recommended here. Weight is not an issue for me (69kg).

  • @ Stephen , thanks, I had a similar question - didn't yet find anything on the Novo Nordisk team site though.

I have a VERY low carb diet at the moment for digestive reasons.  I also am not trying to lose weight, but 5 kg or so won't hurt me.  Last time I was eating even somewhat low carb my training and power suffered.  Trying to figure out a sensible training plan now.

  • @Jack, are you getting enough protein and healthy fats? I suggest watching this: https://youtu.be/da1vvigy5tQ. This TEDx talk is mainly about type 2 diabetes, but the speaker does a great job of breaking down our main macronutrients (carbs, protein, fat) and their effect on blood glucose levels. She also gives some tips on how to structure your meals if you are insulin resistant or have type 2 diabetes. Take a gander and let me know what you think. As always, consult with your doctor and/or dietician over taking something you see on the internet as fact.

  • @ Stephen, thx - I definitely am eating enough proteins and fats.  I went back to adding plenty of carbs too in the last week and it is helping.  I now want to find the right balance.  Zone 2 power and Neuromuscular power don't require glycogen in your muscles but anything in between does, and those areas are specifically where I was lagging.
