Downloaded Video Buffering

In the past I have downloaded the video for the workouts and there have never been any problems with them. Recently I moved my training area to my garage (from the house). The last few workouts I have done since the move do not work. The video just jumps from static image static image and their is no music. The buffering progress image appears often.

From another post on this forum I took the advice to change the download mode to Reliable for the last two and re-download. It did not fix the problem.

The workouts were:-

The Trick - download mode normal

The Rookie - download mode normal

G.O.A.T - download mode reliable

The Shovel - download reliable.

Hopefully you can give me some advice for fixing this.

    Hi Graham,

I am sorry to see that you are having troubles.  Are you using any external audio devices like Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers? Those can often cause this type of trouble if we have ruled out a downloading issue.

  • No it is very simple set up - I plug in an ANT dongle for my sensors and that is all.

Am I right in presuming that an internet connection is not required for downloaded videos - the garage area has a poor connection to my WiFi.

  • So I have just done 'Igniter' and 'The Long Scream' and still the videos are not working. No sound and stuttering unwatchable content.

  • OK - so at work I tried the downloaded videos and they play OK - I obviously have internet access.

Are we saying that downloaded videos STILL need internet access. If so - what is the point?

  • I just tried one more thing before leaving work. I disconnected my laptop from the network and turned off any WiFi access too. I tried to load a random website to confirm that I had no internet access.

I then tried one of the videos again and this time it worked. I am due to do 'The Chores' tonight which I have just downloaded so I will try turning of my WiFi connection and see if that allows me to use the video correctly. If it does I will post the result here, and if it does I think you have a problem with how your application prioritises how it chooses to show the video, as it will tend to suggest that is trying to use my poor garage internet connection when I have the downloaded video available.

    Watch this space....

  • Right.

It hadn't occurred to me that there was a small 'play' button (labelled with a play image) just above the 'download' button. I was always using the larger play button (labelled Play) found in the details pane when you select the workout. On using the smaller button the video worked.

I had presumed that if you have downloaded a video then surely you want to use your local version, hence I thought that there would only be one play button which would choose the most pertinent method. With this mindset I wasn't registering that there was another one on screen,.

  • Thanks for this, Graham.  No matter which play button you choose, we should play the downloaded file, if you have the video downloaded.  Can you please tell me which version of The Sufferfest app you are using?

  • I got exactly the same problem.

After starting a workout, the videos seems to work well. But after few minutes or if I Pause the Workout, the videos jumb from static images and the music is trying to follow them... it's very paintfull, but is not that pain I want from thesufferfest ;-)

It doesn't change anything if the video is prevously downloaded or not, the video is always "buffering".

I'm still on the free trial period. I have tested two workouts, and twice the videos don't work. Too bad, I enjoy a lot your application, but I can't continue using it if the videos don't work.
